Instructions
Instructions allow you to attach a free-text note to a record — such as a customer, ship-to address, a piece of equipment, or a sales order. When you open a document that is related to that record, the note appears automatically in the Instructions panel. This way, anyone working on the document can see important information without having to go looking for it.
For example, you can write on a customer that they require a phone call before delivery. That note then shows up on every sales order, rental contract, and work order for that customer.
Each instruction has a heading that shows where the instruction originated, so you can easily see if it is related to the document, the customer, or the related ship-to address.
Where Instructions appear
Instructions are shown on the following documents. Each document collects instructions from all related records and displays them together.

Adding or editing an instruction
- Open the record you want to add an instruction to (for example, a Customer card).
- Select Instructions from the action bar.
- Type your note in the text field.
- Close the panel. Your note is saved automatically.
The next time someone opens a document related to this record, the instruction will appear in the Instructions panel.
Deleting an instruction
- Open the record the instruction belongs to.
- Select Instructions from the action bar.
- Clear all the text from the text field. The instruction is deleted when the text field is left empty.
- Close the panel.
